Ben Nathan mural at the new Picturehouse Cinema in London

Ben Nathan was commissioned to paint a mural at the new Picturehouse Cinemas in Crouch End that opened this week in a 1950s Modernist office and factory building.
The subject matter of the mural, entitled Riverscape, takes a nearby location as its starting point. It draws on local history and depicts the junction where the New River passes under Tottenham Lane and Hornsey mainline. A version of Crouch End clocktower also appears in the composition. The colours and style have been influenced by a previous painting entitled Seascape, that was part of a series of work shown at 43 Inverness Street.
